About Sharchum

Our Story

Welcome to Sharchum Australian Cobberdogs

At Sharchum and Cain Hill we take breeding seriously. We are two passionate breeders — Laurie and Sharon and Kelly and Rod — experienced breeders assisting in the development of the Australian Cobberdog. We are extremely passionate about this exciting new and very unique breed.

We work closely with other like-minded ethical breeders, assisting in the breed's optimal development. Sharon sits on the MDBA Australian Cobberdog Breed Advisory Committee, helping to actively guide the future of the breed.

We live and raise our puppies in rural New South Wales, where our dogs have room to run and to ensure they have a very good quality of life. Our dogs are not just our breeding program — they are our family.

Our Approach

How we raise our puppies

Our puppies are bred with love and affection. Young puppies are raised and cared for in a climate-controlled nursery and as they grow, they spend their days in their puppy exercise yard in the sunshine, playing with their gym equipment and toys.

All of our puppies are well handled and exposed to the noise of children, adults and a busy family home. We also carry out Early Cognitive Development — positive stimuli and exposure to a variety of activities, noises and experiences that are permanently ingrained in the central nervous system, helping the puppy's brain grow and develop.

All of our dogs are very important to us, from our stunning adults to our beautiful young playful puppies. We breed and raise our dogs in accordance with the RSPCA Animal Welfare Code of Practice Breeding Dogs.

Sharchum and Cain Hill Kennels have been inspected by the RSPCA and are compliant to standards.

Visiting us

Whilst we enjoy visits from families when they come to collect their puppy, due to our other commitments we are not always able to host visitors in our home beforehand.

Our mums find visits very stressful, and the puppies' immune systems are not fully developed, posing a possible health risk. Visits to our home are only possible once puppies are ready to go to their new families.
